Captain Wayne (Rusty) Baker

I’m still a Southern Illinois farm boy at heart. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to fly. As a teenager, I began working as a line boy and mechanic’s helper at the local airport. Within two weeks I was spending all my money on flying lessons.

I scrimped and saved, flew every chance I got, built up my hours and acquired all my ratings. Over the years I flew as a flight instructor, pipeline patrol pilot, air taxi and corporate pilot. Then it was on to the airlines, flying passengers for a while before moving on to become a freight dawg.

Now that I’m retired I’ve found that the older I get, the better I was! It’s my privilege to share some helpful information and entertaining stories with you. Some are my own. Others will be contributed by friends - old and new. Some might even be partly true!

In between the flying stories I’m including some of my fictional stories I’ve written over a period of several years. I’m no Steven King, but I had fun writing them and I hope you enjoy them .

Thanks for dropping in.
